Why would you suit the McLaren 650S Can-Am?
Are you after a new car that will absolutely blow your mind? A car that's built for performance, but still manages to squeeze some comfort into the design as well? The McLaren 650S Can-Am is one such car. It's got everything a petrolhead could want, and that's just on the outside. The performance is another thing altogether.
What makes this car so fantastic?
Starting under the hood, the 3.8-litre, twin-turbo V8 produces 478 kilowatts of power and a staggering 678 Nm of torque. That's impressive performance for a road car, although it'll feel right at home on a track. It shoots from 0 to 100 kph in just 3 seconds and has a maximum speed of 329 kph.
The frankly amazing acceleration is thanks to the 75-kilogram MonoCell at the centre of the McLaren 650S Can-Am. This is made entirely out of carbon fibre, and is extremely rigid. That's not just good for going through turns without losing speed or road position, but is also excellent for driver and passenger safety. The MonoCell also helps to maintain the structure of the car, even though it's a convertible. Usually, a lot of extra weight would be required to keep a car stable when a convertible roof is added – not so in this.
How cool does it look?
As far as McLarens go, it's hard to find one that doesn't look absolutely brilliant. The McLaren 650S Can-Am, however, is on a totally different level.
A quad-pipe stainless steel exhaust sits in the middle of the rear of the car, making the back a real feature. Black, five-spoke alloys hark back to the Can-Am days of old. These are wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tyres, so you can rest assured that you'll have more than enough grip around those fast racing corners.
Around the car, there are also subtle finishing touches that set it apart from the rest of the McLaren range. Badges highlighting the McLaren 650S Can-Am racing pedigree will make sure passengers and pedestrians alike realise what they're witnessing: motoring greatness.
All in all, the McLaren 650S Can-Am would suit anyone with a need for speed. In terms of car enthusiasts, that's virtually everyone.
