Is the new Aston Martin Vantage a candidate for the next Bond film?
Back when the James Bond name was barely famous, producers struggled to find a car to feature in the 1964 film Goldfinger. They had their hearts set on an Aston Martin, however the British marque wasn't interested in seeing its car on the silver screen. After brief discussions with Jaguar, the crew went back to Aston Martin and convinced them to loan the DB5 for free.
Goldfinger became a huge hit, grossing over $51 million, and the Aston Martin DB5 was the star. Fast forward to today and James Bond has grown into an international phenomenon and Aston Martin has become one of the world's leading luxury performance car marques. Since Goldfinger, Aston Martins have also featured in a dozen Bond films.
With that in mind, could the new Aston Martin Vantage star alongside Daniel Craig in the next Bond? Here's three reasons why we think it might.
1. It's Aston Martin's most beautiful car
The British marque always put forward their sleekest, most attractive car to feature in Bond films. In fact, their first offering, the legendary DB5, is often considered to be the most beautiful car ever made. We'd argue that the new Aston Martin Vantage matches the beauty of the DB5.
Smooth lines race down the cars hood, curling into a gaping air intake valve that hints at the immense power within. The rear of the car flares upward atop wide tires, framing the teardrop shaped cabin windows. It creates a mean, potent road presence that's beautiful and aggressive at once.
2. It's ludicrously fast and powerful
One look at this car and you'll know it goes ridiculously fast. Under that gorgeous curved hood is a four litre turbocharged V8 engine that delivers almost 510 hp. This massive power plant can propel the Aston Martin Vantage from 0-100 kph in just 3.6 seconds.
It's easy to imagine a certain secret agent rocketing around the streets of London in this powerhouse.
3. It's impossibly sleek and cool
Everything about the Aston Martin is sleek, sexy and cool. Its incredible interior and exterior design, limitless speed, quilted leather seats, and florescent yellow colouring make it a car that would suit the high octane getaways and glamorous rendezvous of your average Bond Film.
