Our History

Sunshine Automotive is a member of the family-owned Peter Warren Group of Companies which is based in Sydney NSW. The Peter Warren Group commenced operations in 1957 as a Volkswagon franchise and has grown to be one of the largest organisations within the motor vehicle industry. They now operate three dealerships in NSW located at Liverpool, Warwick Farm and Fairfield. Franchises now include Ford, Daihatsu, Suzuki, Hyundai, Mercedes Benz, Toyota, Kia, Honda, Volvo and Chrysler Jeep. The group now employs over 400 personnel throughout NSW and QLD.

In April 1989, The Sunshine Automotive purchased the former operations of Trio Ford located on the corner of Nerang and Rawlins Streets in Southport, and commenced trading on those premises as Sunshine Ford and Daihatsu on May 1, 1989.

As a commitment to the motor vehicle industry, The Sunshine Group Pty Ltd invested over six million dollars in the new Ford and Daihatsu franchise and plans were made to relocate to 292 Nerang Road, Southport.

After choosing the most attractive setting to compliment our corporate image, architects were assigned to design this magnificent new building. The new premises were completed in approximately nine months and the new Sunshine Ford and Daihatsu was officially opened by the Mayor of the Gold Coast, Hon. Lex Bell, on the 9th of October, 1990.

In December 1996 The Sunshine Group Pty Ltd started trading as Sunshine KIA in addition to Sunshine Ford and Sunshine Daihatsu.

December 2000 saw the aquisition of Southport Motors adding Jaguar and Aston Martin to The Sunshine Group portfolio.

Today, The Sunshine Group is proud to be one of the most successful motor vehicle dealerships in South East Queensland and employs approximately 120 staff members.
